JCube

[Scroll down to view the photos]

Touted as an entertainment mall, JCube opened to huge fanfare on 2nd April 2012. Even though it was a Monday, it was reported that there were long queues at the carpark as well as food outlets. It even trended on Twitter Singapore for a number of days!

A visit to JCube is nothing but AWESOME! With the one and only Olympic Size Ice Skating Rink, Rinkside dining, A 7-screen cineplex including Singapore’s 2nd IMAX screen, and tons of new food outlets making their debut, it not only brings entertainment to the people of Jurong, but it is also an exciting addition onto the long list of shopping centres in Singapore!

New-to-Singapore food outlets making their debut at JCube include Capricciosa, eat at taipei [吃在台北], Nana’s Green Tea Cafe and What The Fries! [WTF], while non-food outlets such as Francfranc, Baby Phat and Tally Weijl [Information retrieved from Jcube's mall directory phamplet]. Special mention to Payless Shoesource from US, as this is also one, or maybe their first outlet in the Suburban Area, as well as Cold Storage. This is Cold Storage’s 1st store in Jurong!

I felt that at least 50% of the entire mall was filled with food outlets, and many of these are Japanese ones!! [Just goes to show how Singaporeans love Japanese food], maybe 15% each for the rink and cineplex. There’s hardly any fashion or lifestyle outlets there. McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Canton Paradise, Capricciosa, Chili’s, eat at taipei, Gelateria Italia, Ginza Bairin, Itacho Sushi & Jika Udon, Kung Fu Paradise, Kopitian, Manna Story [Korean], Marble Slab Creamery, Nana’s Green Tea Cafe, Nando’s, OldTown White Coffee, Pique Nique, Punggol Nasi Padang, Rive Gauche Patisserie, Share Tea, Sticky, ThaiExpress, The Manhattan Fish Market, Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant, What The Fries!, Wow Tako, Yamazaki Boulangerie, and the list goes on and on… Quite an attractive slew of food choices!!!

The Ice-Skating Rink is one big major attraction! Its humongous! Admission is $21.50 for 2 hrs, inclusive of skates, gloves, etc. There’s also a seating gallery on one side of the ring. The purple color seats on Level 3 are priced at $3.50 for 2hrs, while the yellow ones at Level 4 are FOC. The other side of the rink are filled with dining outlets, from KFC to eat at taipei [吃在台北], which is making its debut into Singapore!

There’s also a JStage on level 5, the rooftop garden. But its comparatively smaller than the one at IMM.

However, the walkways at level 3 and 4 could have been made wider, especially near the cineplex entrance. It was uber-squeezy! I really wonder how it will be able to manage crowds when blockbuster films are being shown.

and… JCube is just ONE of the THREE malls to be opened in Jurong East these 2 years! I guess many are anticipating the opening of Jem, which will house H&M, Uniqlo, Robinsons, a 10-screen Cathay Cineplex, duplex McDonald’s, M&S, FairPrice Xtra, and the list just goes on! Take a sneak peak here before it opens in Q2 2013!

and by Christmas next year, Westgate will open! [The name sounds like a Shopping Centre that is most likely found in Europe, maybe London LOL] From the artist impression, it seems that Westgate will be nothing less than Spectacular!

THAT’S THE FUTURE OF JURONG, and Jurong Point, here’s your competitor!

Tanglin Mall, along Orchard Road. Like an annual tradition, there is always ‘snow’ falling onto Tanglin Mall’s shores.

With a european touch, Tanglin Mall emits a aura of Switzerland, etc. Try the macarons at Brunetti. $2 each. They are delicious!

Photos below. ENJOY =)

Bugis Junction. Located at Bugis district of Singapore. A special feature of this mall is that its interior contains the facade of old shophouses in the area, conserved.

This year’s theme is GO GAGA, GAGA in the sense of Lady Gaga, and it seems the decorations are really gorgeous as well…

Photos below. ENJOY =)
