Scotts Square – Tucked at a corner of Scotts Road, almost at the Junction of Orchard Road is quite a petite little mall that offers quite a bit of luxury. Hermes and Michael Kors at the entrace. FairPrice Finest @ Scotts at its basement, to eateries such as Wild Honey and delicious [seriously, those are names of the stores]. The food outlets seem quite attractive although many have yet to open, including a bakery known as Maison Kayser which is well known for its bread. A great addition to Orchard Road which will be welcoming other new bakeries such as Paul at Takashimaya soon!!! A glass sculpture, i think from Chihuly, hangs above the entrance of Scotts Square, giving the whole mall an exquisite touch. Photos below. Enjoy!

Artisanal bakery Maison Kayser will set up shop at Scotts Square

The new Scotts Square in Scotts Road will continue to feed Singaporeans’ love affair with Japanese cuisine.

The 75,000 sq ft mall-cum-residence complex, which had its soft opening on Tuesday, will offer five new eateries from Japan to tempt foodies here.

In January next year, the 1,000 sq ft restaurant Ginza Sushi Ichi will open. This is a branch of the one-Michelin- starred sushi restaurant from Tokyo’s Ginza district. Helmed by head chef Ryusuke Yamane, the Tokyo outlet specialises in wild tuna and sea urchin.

Another star attraction is artisanal bakery Maison Kayser, which is opening its first outlet here by the end of this month.

The 18-outlet chain in Japan is a joint venture with the original Parisian bakery, which was founded in 1996 by Eric Kayser, regarded as one of the world’s best bakers.

Maison Kayser’s Japanese chief executive officer Shu Kimura was in Singapore last year to scout for suitable locations.

The Japanese chain is famous for its anpan bread (bread with a sweet bean paste filling) and French loaves that use natural leaven for the dough fermentation, adding to the rich aroma and taste of the breads.

The 1,500 sq ft outlet at Scotts Square will include a cafe as well as the bakery, adding to the growing French bakery scene in Singapore. Famed French boulangerie Paul Bakery is slated to open at Takashimaya Shopping Centre by Christmas.

The other Japanese eateries at the mall include Kazumi, which specialises in bento sets, and mid-priced ramen chain Marukin, which also has an outlet in Beijing. Both outlets will open by the end of this month.

By January, the mall will also have a branch of Tokyo’s Italian restaurant La Luna Rossa. The Tokyo kitchen is run by chef Masahiro Takada, who picked up Italian cooking from his eight-year stay in Italy.

Other eateries at Scotts Square include Delicious, a chic tearoom from Kuala Lumpur, all-day breakfast outlet Wild Honey and Crystal Jade Kitchen Restaurant.

Of the variety of dining options, a Scotts Square spokesman said: ‘Dining selections at Scotts Square were chosen based on their cuisines, concepts, ambience and price points to appeal to the gourmand in everyone, be it for a casual meal or cosy tete-a-tete.’

The latest mall on the Orchard Road shopping belt will officially open early next year.

The former Scotts Shopping Centre and its adjoining serviced apartment complex, The Ascott, were bought by Wheelock Properties in 2004. The mall, which used to house the popular Picnic food court, was demolished in 2007.

Scotts Square also houses fashion labels such as Michael Kors’ first stand-alone outlet in Singapore, Italian fine jeweller Chantecler, as well as German skincare brand Noesa.
